17 Things to Love about Mondays
Why Mondays? Why not. Why 17? Because it’s my favorite number, no other reason.
Monday’s really get the short end of the stick.
If you’re anything like me, in elementary school you used the days of the week as a lookbook, a blueprint as to how to best fit each day’s mood and emulate its energy.
Thursdays — for whatever reason — were dress up days with floral skirts and bedazzled ribbed tank tops, Fridays were “comfy” days featuring a Juicy velour suit in some heinous color, and Wednesdays were for mutually deciding with your best friend that you would *attempt* to crimp your hair together.
I can’t remember what Mondays were for, though, and maybe that’s because they were tainted with coincidental bad weather, bad energy and shit luck.
It’s funny how we collectively decide to villainize the start of the week, when the start of something new is usually a happy occasion in all other cases— the start of a semester, job, even a movie or a book.
So, this year, I have decided to give Monday its mojo back.
Without further ado, here are 17 ways to start loving your Monday.
Wake up for sunrise (you can always go back to sleep after)
Bring your morning latte on a walk
Book an evening hot yoga class
Mosey around the aisles of a book store
Watch a funny movie
FaceTime a long distance friend out of the blue during lunch and ask about their weekend
Buy yourself fresh flowers for your bedroom
Flip through your favorite magazine
Light your favorite candle while you work
Drop off old clothes to a donation bin
Make plans with a friend you haven’t seen in a while
Take *the* shower
Take your sweet time doing your night time skin care
Listen to jazz music while you cook dinner
Make that return (I know you have one)
Bake a single serving dessert
Challenge yourself to no complaining all day long, especially complaining about Mondays
